X’s encrypted direct message (DM) feature, known as XChat, is now being distributed to a broader user base. Initially launched in beta in May, XChat is expanding its availability to include users who do not have a subscription to X Premium, the platform’s premium service.
XChat functions independently from the standard DM inbox and provides end-to-end encryption for enhanced security. The system accommodates media uploads, facilitating the sharing of images and videos within encrypted conversations. Group chats are supported, enabling multiple users to participate in secure discussions. Users can pin important messages for easy reference and mark messages as read or unread to manage their communication flow. Development of a vanishing mode is also reportedly underway, indicating potential future enhancements to the platform’s privacy features.
Currently, access to XChat requires users to actively opt in to the feature. Desktop users can find XChat within the messages tab, where a “Chat” option appears above the “Message requests” section. Mobile users will find the “Chat” option in the main navigation bar on the left side of the screen, positioned just above the Communities section.
Before initiating encrypted conversations, users are required to establish a four-digit code, a security measure similar to that used by other encrypted messaging platforms such as Signal. Messaging other users via XChat is only possible after this code has been set and both parties have opted in to use the feature. The original DM system remains functional. Messages sent via the older system appear under an “unencrypted” tab in the chat menu.

In some cases, it may be possible to negotiate the price of a premium domain. However, the success of negotiations depends on factors such as the domain's demand, the seller's willingness to negotiate, and the overall market conditions. At BrandBucket, we offer transparent, upfront pricing, but if you see a name that you like and wish to discuss price, please reach out to our sales team.
How Do I Transfer a Premium Domain?
Transferring a premium domain involves a few steps, including unlocking the domain, obtaining an authorization code from the current registrar, and initiating the transfer with the new registrar. Many domain name marketplaces, including BrandBucket, offer assistance with the transfer process.
